Pain and Weather Linked

Hi:

Temperate Climate is Good for your Health

Hi:

Want to live longer? Well, when you realize out what extreme weather, both good and bad, can do for your health, you may decide to exit your home town, pronto, and move to a temperate climate.

Self Employment and "Older Workers"

Hi:

Did you know that people of working age in Canada are classified by their ages.  I'm sure similar categories exist in other countries.

Anyway in Canada, people are lumped into three basic groups, with some some subcategories.  The first one is Youth, which lasts until age twenty-nine, if you can believe that. A twenty-nine year old youth!

This is subdivided into two groups 15 to 24, which has high unemployment rates, naturally, because most are attending school.  The last group should theoretically be getting out in the world and starting their careers.

Walking an Excellent Way to Keep in Shape

Walking as a form of exerise.

Exercise is the key to physical and mental fitness at all ages. However, for those people in the second half of their lives, who plan to live to be 100, exercise is the key.

Is there discrimination against older workers?

Hi:

In BC the largest group of people starting their own businesses are over 55.  The reason many of these people are starting their own business is because they have been downsized, rightsized, or otherwise found themself unemployed. They have not been able to find the same or comparable employment.

Vancouver has evolved to an International City

Some cities have been international cities for hundreds of years. A great number of people from around the world have always lived and worked there.  London, Paris, Madrid, Hong Kong, Geneva, New York come to mind.

Steppin' Out

Hi:

Walking down a path not gone before.  Looking at the stars at night.  Noticing the cool air and the dew on the ground at the beginning of the day.  Listening to the robin call out its so-mi song as the sun comes up.

Letting go of the past and being aware of my environment around me with great intensity than when I was busily working.  Where will I be a year from now?  Who knows?  What I do know is that I am moving forward, and enjoying the journey.

Enjoying your Money

Hi:

People who have a lot of money have often worked very hard to get it.  They scrimped and saved when they were younger and finally, through a series of good decisions and hard work, are relatively well-off.

Some of these people still have the poverty mentality.  Unfortunately, they may have millions, but they live like cheapskates.  They may not pay for services they need and are always looking for a good deal.  Their old habit of saving money may have been useful in the past, but may need to be reconsidered now.

Identifying with BoomersI

Hi:

I have noticed that many older people want to be baby boomers. Surprising to me, but people do want to be part of a movement.

The oldest boomers turned 60 last year, and so this year all those born in 1947 will join the 60's crowd. Yet, I have heard people who are now in their late sixties referring to themselves as boomers.  The late boomers, who are in their early forties find that interesting. These older folks could be their parents.

Urban Design and Health

Hi:

Maybe the towns and villages of old grew by accident, but the design seemed to work. People could access their daily needs from a small core of needed shops in the centre of a group of houses.
